Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes
Tuesday January 20, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. in the Library Board Room
Call to order
The January 20, 2026, Board Meeting of Bryan-Bennett Library Trustees was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Board President Gary Hahn.
Roll Call
Board members answering roll call were Kasey Angeloni, Brenda Conrad, Mark Decker, Jennifer Dice, Gary Hahn, Lynn Larimer, Erica Nix and Gayla Wilkerson. Trustee Marylin Lewis was absent. Also present at the meeting were Library Director Jodi Trinkle and Assistant Director Shanan Reed along with Friends of Bryan-Bennett Library (FOBBL) president Laura Crain.
Public Comment
None
Secretary’s Report
A motion to accept the November 18, 2025, meeting minutes was made by Trustee Angeloni and seconded by Trustee Wilkerson. All members voted yes and the motion carried.
A motion to approve the December 10, 2025, Policy Committee meeting minutes was made by Trustee Larimer with a second by Trustee Nix. The motion was approved
A motion to approve the December 29, 2025, Finance Committee meeting minutes was made by Trustee Decker with a second from Trustee Angeloni. The motion was approved.
Treasurer’s Report
A motion to pay December 2025 library bills in the amount of $17,336.69 was made by Trustee Dice and seconded by Trustee Angeloni. All members voted yes and the motion carried.
A motion to pay the January 2026 library bills in the amount of $21,003.16 was made by Trustee Decker and seconded by Trustee Wilkerson. All members voted in favor and the motion carried.
Financial Report December 2025 and January 2026
Currently Bryan-Bennett Library is below budget for where we are at in the fiscal year.
Memorial and Donation Report
A donation of $500.00 was received from library patron Patty Squibb. With the closing of Romine Prairie Presbyterian church, a donation of $864.43 was accepted for the newspaper archive shelving. Library Board President Hahn has volunteered for their assembly. Trustee Larimer has agreed to reach out to Margie Doolen, wife of Sherm Doolen, for suggestions concerning the $500.00 memorial made in her late husband’s name.
Friends of Bryan-Bennett Library Report
President of the Friends of Bryan-Bennett Library, Laura Crain, shared with the board that the November 2025 silent auction brought in $236.00. An additional Saturday has been added to the FOBBL book room sale. Patrons can now find the book room open the second, third and fourth Saturday of the month. A second delivery of paperback books will soon make its way to Marion County Jail. The Board would like to express our gratitude for all of the hard work and dedication of the FOBBL members.
Committee Report’s
Finance- The Finance Committee met for a meeting on December 29, 2025 to discuss the budget. A budget report was handed out to the trustees to be reviewed and ready to be discussed and voted on at the February 2026 meeting
Policy- The Policy Committee held a meeting December 10, 2025, to review and update current library policies. They will present the board with their recommendations.

Building and Grounds– None
Old Business
The Building and Grounds committee with the help of Library Board President Gary Hahn will form a bid packet plan for the new flooring and painting of the library. President Hahn has agreed to reach out to the City for guidance and necessary steps to start the bidding process.
New Business
A motion to accept the amended policies presented by the Policy Committee was made by Trustee Dice and seconded by Trustee Conrad. All members voted yes and the motion carried.
A motion for approval of the Per Capita Grant was made by Trustee Larimer and seconded by Trustee Wilkerson. All members voted yes and the motion carried,
A motion for approval of the 2026 Holiday schedule was made by Trustee Larimer and seconded by Trustee Decker. All members voted yes and the motion carried.
A motion to approve the dates for the 2026 Board Meetings was made by Trustee Decker and seconded by Trustee Conrad. All members voted yes and the motion carried.
Director’s Report– See Attached
Board Member Report’s
Board Member Mark Decker shared with the board that he is heading a 250th Anniversary celebrating the signing of The Declaration of Independence. A second planning meeting is to be held on January 31, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Bryan-Bennett Library. Decker is hoping to plan a retro period dinner on July 3 ,2026, at the Marion County Fairgrounds, to go along with the City of Salem July 4 celebration.
Adjournment
A motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Wilkerson and seconded by Trustee Decker at 7:43 p.m. All members voted in favor and the meeting was adjourned.
